Saturday, October 24th the Combine VFD held its annual fund raising event. The Firefighters smoked 20 beef briskets and all the fix’ns to go with it. There was a silent auction as well as a live auction of items that were donated by the community. There were many dollar/check donations as well. The event started with dinner at 4:30 and concluded by 8:00PM. Live music was also provided. This event is the only one in Combine each year. It was very well attended. Maybe it was the rain and some folks had their plans cancelled, but we feel it was just the Combine Community showing its support for the Volunteer Fire Fighters that are dedicated to them. This event like all the others, is way for you to give directly back to the Community. Your donations and funds raised by the auction and dinner go directly to purchasing new equipment, maintain our trucks, and even training for your Firefighters. This year we collected over $10,000. A Very heartfelt thanks to the Community of Combine.

Important ***** Safe Outdoor Burning Guidelines ***** Important

Your right to burn outdoors is NOT absolute. You must comply with state and local laws.  The link above provides all of the information that you need to burn safely and to protect you, your neighbors, animals, and property.  Please remember that only wood and paper objects may be burned in an outdoor pile. Burn Barrels with screens are required for house-hold trash. Do not burn at night or during the days if the wind is over 20mph.

BEFORE burning, please call the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office and ask for "Dispatch" to inform them of your intent to burn.  The Sheriff's Dispatch office number is 972-932-9799.
